@mustang66lady

Just waned to say thanks here to you for doing all that digging for your Avocado Dip recipes for the Pappasito's thread.  I had to laugh out loud when you said you could visualize exactly how the one for Ruiz looked.  I have had the same experience s-o-o-o-o many times -- "it was a little square of pink paper about this big and the writing was in blue ink....."  YOWP!

I miss my Hawaiian friend -- I used to tell her I needed her "finder's magic."  When I'd be frantically searching, I'd call her and tell her I was looking for something.  I'd always find it, too, usually while we were still on the phone.

It's great to have all you Souper Friends here on this thread.  Hope you all have a tranquil night.

@Honeybit

Oh Honeybit, I spent most of the day searching for that little piece of paper but never found it!  But you did encourage me to start something I have put off doing and that was clean out that foyer closet.  I'm still not done.  I found a half dozen or more huge binders that held pristine copies of Taste of Home magazine, starting with the premier issue, as will as Country Woman, MidWest Living, and Cooking Light.  I hated to throw them away and didn't want to hold on to them any more, so called our local library and to my surprise, said they would love to take them off my hands!  AFter dinner tonight DH and I loaded them all up and made the donation.  Those magazines taught me a lot thru the years and brought a whole lot of entertainment and certainly a lot of yummy recipes.

I did do a search on line for a recipe that I thought might be close.  If you google avocado crema, you will literally get lots of smooth guacamole type recipes using crema or sour cream or yogurt.  I also found one by Martha Stewart called Creamy Avocado Dip that actually might be the closest one to the recipe that I had.  I can't give you the link or the POB might zap our thread but just do a google search of Martha Stewart's recipe for Creamy Avocado Dip and you should find it on her website along with a video to make it.  You still may need to tweak it to make it taste more like you remember but at least you will have the base recipe!  Thanks for inspiring me to take a walk down memory lane today and get some decluttering done!  Have a peaceful evening.  Woman Happy

Hello Kitchenettes,

I have read posts today but have stayed away from posting myself until this evening.  I did post on another thread that Honeybit started.

While I have kept busy today, my heart has been heavy with thoughts of our dear Respect and what she is going thru right now.  You know, if we were all neighbors, I would offer to cook a meal, or clean or housesit or something but we are so distant it is frustrating.

@seattlegirl98026

I'm so happy that the crisis involving your Mother seems to be passed.  I will pray for her continued healing.  It is exhausting to have to take care of parents on so many levels that can't be explained unless you have been thru it.  Several of us on this thread have done so, so any questions you have, need a shoulder to cry on, need to vent, whatever-we have an understanding.  I'm glad you and your DH had some time to get away-that always helps.  Tell your DD and SIL Happy Anniversary from the Kitchenettes-it will keep them guessing!  LOL!

@VaBelle35

Those bourbon mushrooms were really good-up there with caramelized onions.  I keep thinking of making them again, taking some flatbread, provolone cheese or goat cheese, arugula, maybe some pancetta, drizzle some olive oil and throw it on the grill.  Sundried tomatoes chopped up on it,too!  Take it out, drizzle on some balsalmic glaze---I don't know but the thought of it makes me hungry!  If you try them, let me know what you think.  DH and I ate the 2 pounds of mushrooms ourselves=not in one sitting but no one helped us!

@momtochloe

We are humid city here.  DH said the news reported we would be the same temp as Phoenix on Wednesday except they have dry heat-I've been there and believe me, would prefer to be there this Wednesday than here!  We are suppose to get storms around 2 a.m. otherwise, I will be watering flowers in the morning.  Be safe my friend.

@ChiliPepper

I so agree with you re; appropriateness of language.  Personally I never see the reason to use the "F" word.  I tell my girls if they cannot find an appropriate substitute word, that perhaps their university educations were not as successful as we thought.  I try to encourage them to take the road less traveled.  I'm not always successful though.  Woman Frustrated

@Writer with Flair

Are you and Mr. Writer feeling any better?  Did you ever figure out what was wrong?   Hope you didn't pick up something while at the hospital.  They are a petri dish of germs even though all precautions are taken.  Tell Rodney the Kitchenettes are waving hi to him and hope to see him wave with both hands soon!

@RespectLife

You and Papa Q's family and your co-workers are on my mind as I know tomorrow will be mentally and physically and emotionally exhausting.  Add that with the other tragedy of losing Anita,well honey you have been thru the fire.  You keep your chin up tomorrow, sing from your heart, and know that Papa Q is proud you honored him in voice.

@novamc1

Hi novamc.  Hope things are going well for you and that you are not sweltering still although I have a feeling you are.  How are the moving plans going?  Time is getting close, isn't it?  September will be here before we know it.

@DiamondGirly

We haven't seen you on this thread lately but hope you are doing alright.  How is weather there on the west coast?  Are you melting into the Pacific?

I am tired tonight and feel I have left someone out.  Please forgive me.  I miss all who post here and am happy to see anyone who would like to join in.  Have a blessed evening everyone.

Morning, everyone!

I am in the office this morning as the wake doesn't start until 2 pm.  I feel your support, hugs and encouragement!  Thank you all !

Unfortunatey, the Priest denied my two songs.  Instead he said I could sing Ave Maria.

TEE HEE!  Opera in Latin?  LOL  Not for this contemporary tenor/alto!  The organist will sing that and one other the Priest picked.  I'm a little sad as the two I had were terrific, fitting songs.

The organist was 'too busy' to meet me yesty or today to practice.  A bit of a grump!  Wait til he hears me ask to change to key of Amazing Grace into my range!  UH OH!

I am meeting him at 9:30 tomorrow ...the mass starts at 10!  Zeesh!  Cutting it a little close?  I am praying for peace that God will direct my path.  This isn't about me, it is about a dear man so I will keep that in my heart!  The other two I will be singing are Abide w/ Me and How Great Thou Art.  Wonderful hymns that I have sung since birth...but again...a bit outta my key range!

OH!  I keep forgetting to report back...

Unfortunately, the Vole/Mole vibrating sticks from Aldi's?  Bust.  We have 6 new vole holes.

Rats!   thought they were working...but the critters showed up again. Out comes the poison!

@RespectLife

Boy, can they make a mess in your yard can't they?

How about a cat instead of poison? I have two (of three) that would LOVE to get outside & help you! Wanna borrow one LOL???

So, believe it or not, I have had a raccoon on my bird feeder the last few nights. Never seen anything like it. He's cute but I know they can be destructive. I guess I should stop filling the feeder so he doesn't come back. My cats love to watch him through the window though!

Hi @ChiliPepper, good morning!  A while back, my normally docile Chloe became a snarling she-beast early in the morning . . . as I still had the sheer drapes closed I couldn't quite see what was going on until I turned on the light and opened them and there was a raccoon (very rare for around here).  Our visitor quickly waddled off and there were no further incidents.

Is your feeder on a pole?  Do you think it would help to grease it up?  I know that worked for us with squirrels (if you remembered to reapply often).
