Happy Saturday Morning Kitchenettes!

We had a tad bit of relief in weather yesterday-only in the mid 90's instead of 100.  Today, we are cranking the heat and humidity back up to miserable and will leave it there at least thru tomorrow and possibly into Monday.  It is slightly hazy today so am wondering if that "threat" of scattered storms actually might hit us.

@VaBelle35

Girl, you are amazing!  Your description of yesterday was amazing and I wish I could have been part of it!  You sound like a natural born teacher!  The kids had plenty of hands on activities, they learned things as they made and experimented-sounds like everyone was engaged in what was going on.  Plus your event ended up being a match making situation as well! SCORE!  You may be a tornado to work with, but sounds like your goals are well laid out and people know what you expect and how to achieve it. Great Job!

I can understand being a weenie-seems like once something expensive breaks, something else does as well-at least for us!  I'm glad things are working out so far.  Hopefully that will spread to the car as well and end up being something silly and cheap to fix!  Car prayers for mtc!

Writer,

Are you feeling better today?  I'm so sorry those ribs made you ill.  And in all this heat to boot!  I wasn't aware that Whole Foods had gotten dinged for some of their practices.  Hopefully this is a one time thing for you and that it doesn't occur there again.  Take things easy and if you have some candied ginger, eat a piece of two of that-it will ease your tummy as well.  If you have never eaten it before, it does have a little punch but nothing you can't tolerate-even my grandson will eat a piece or two when his tummy is upset.  Heart

Ok, I just heard back from the repair shop and they think it is an electronic issue but with all of the other work that I will be squeezing in I am looking at over 1k . . . that's ok, at least I know it will be done right and I trust them completely . . . oh well, at least my car will be in great shape!  Smiley Happy

@Writer with Flair how are you feeling today my friend?  I am so sorry to hear about your unfortunate run in with Whole Foods . . . I read an article a couple of weeks ago that they were dinged by the FDA for some of their safety issues which I found shocking based on the whole premise of the company.

And thank you for your kind words about my former boss.  Trust me, it made everything I went through with her worth it when I saw that stunned look on everyone's faces when everything went so well . . . tee hee!

Hope you are feeling better my friend!  Heart

mtc,

Thanks so much for your kind thoughts and encouraging words. I am feeling much better today.  Thanks for asking.

I saw that stuff about Whole Foods in the news, too.  If you can't trust Whole Foods, who can you trust?

Regarding your former boss, sometimes, yes, there IS justice in the world.  I just love it when stuff like that happens.

I am so sorry to hear that the car repairs will be so expensive, but glad that you have people your can trust to do the work.

Mustang,

Thanks for your kind words and caring.  I am feeling much better today.  I felt a little puny, but drank plenty of liquids and soldiered on.  Fortunately, it was not as hot as I thought it was going to be.

DH and I got most of our errands done and came home a little early to chill for the rest of the day.

Thanks for the info on the ginger thing.  I need to get some of that.  It sounds like a good thing to have around all the time.  Do you keep it in the pantry, refrigerator, or the freezer?  I keep a frozen ginger root in the freezer for Korean dishes, but I do not have any candied ginger anywhere.

Glad to hear you are on the mend.  That kind of thing does take it out of you for a few days.

Actually what I have is Australian Chrystalized Ginger that I buy in jars from Penzey's.  It is shelf stable and we find it works better than TUM's or Rolaids when we have stomach issues.  Like I said, it does have a little bite to it but it is not too bad.  We chew 3 or 4 pieces, maybe more or less depending on how we feel.  Works faster than drinking ginger ale, which doesn't always have enough ginger in it to do the trick for me.

Mustang,

Thanks for the tip on the special ginger.  It is nice you can keep it at room temperature.

     Good night.

This is good to know. I added it to my list for the next time I order from Penzeys.

I also like Andrew Lessman's peppermint tea.  I got a sample of it in an order and saved it for a day that I wasn't feeling well and I was amazed at how quickly it worked.  I went and bought another organic brand at Wegmans and it doesn't work as well (and doesn't taste as nice).  So while his is more expensive and less convenient to buy, it is definitely worth it to have it hanging around.  And it's nicely sealed in foil packages, so it will last a long time in my cool basement.

My niece's graduation party was nice.  Very well attended.  Kids were coming by all afternoon.  I got there late, dropped off my cookies and chatted with the adults.  Towards the end I got into a conversation with one of her best friends.  She is the total opposite of my niece and not in theater, so she provides a nice balance for my niece.  A little too far over to the other side for my personal taste, but I think it's refreshing to have a friend who has different views, different outlook and a different life plan than you.
