They'll figure it out - no need to lose sleep over it.

Nobody has said anything about them merging; they will simply be owned by the same entity.  Despite the fun we've had with all the possibilities, I think the changes we'll see will be minimal.  It will pretty much be business as usual.

I don't know where some have it in their head it is a merger!!  I have yet to see anything that even remotely suggests they are merging - just the same company that owns QVC that did own part of HSN is now buying the whole thing.  Many stores are owned buy the same company and they are still run like before!!

Liberty Media has owned a huge chunk of HSN for years now.

I think people think of the fiasco that is Kmart and Sears and get panicky.  Dollar Tree bought Family Dollar a couple years ago and I always see positive stories online about that deal. And I haven't seen anything change at Family Dollar since being bought.  I'm sure everything will just keep ticking along.

I guess QVC has captured the home shopping network crown.

Rather than continuing to compete, they bought out the competition. I had no idea the company was so solvent $$$$$$.

Come to think of it, hey, my $$$ helped make this possible. With all my "contributions" over 30 years, I should be a stockholder Woman Very Happy

No merger has been announced.  They will operate as separate companies.  A lot of inaccurate info being posted on the boards.  If anyone is interested, you can Google to get the real story from legitimate news sources.

For goodness sakes!  Over the SEVERAL threads about this subject (lots of info to be easily found here), it has been clarified that it's not a merger and QVC didn't buy hsn.

The company that owns QVC is apparently also purchasing hsn.  That's all.

That has been stated numerous times but some people just aren't paying attention.

Sorry for my frustration, but seriously.

There are several places online that describe it as a Merger - why would they call it that, if that's not the correct terminology? Just wondering...

CBS says:

"NEW YORK -- QVC and Home Shopping Network, two of the best-known home-shopping hubs, are merging in a $2.6 billion deal as they try to retain consumers who are rapidly shifting to internet-based retail."

This is an example from CNBC:

"The merger would result in the third-largest e-commerce site, behind only Amazon and Wal-Mart, while synergies could range anywhere from $70 billion to $110 billion, according to the CEO."
