I'm on Long Island.  I have always bought the 1.5 dozen for $2.39.  They are now $6.39.  One dozen is $4.49.  It's outrageous.

Re: Price of Eggs

[ Edited ]

I buy eggs directly from the farm or at our local farmer's market.  They are free range eggs....the chickens are right there walking around in the pasture.

They are expensive but worth it and still a great buy for what you get for your money.  They have gone up to $7.00 a dozen in my area (Bucks Co., PA)

Bought a dozen eggs about a week ago for $3.29.  Went up a little more than a dollar.  I remember, not too long ago, the price being $1.97 for the longest time with a frequent sale of 99 cents.  Those days are long gone.

I buy brown organics for $3+ at Aldi's (they're always the cheapest) to $4+ elsewhere.

One of our little local markets has Eggland's Best this week, 18 for $3.99.

I'm not particularly fond of EB eggs but if they're the cheapest this week then that's what we will get.

Bought a dozen eggs at Aldi on Oct. 10 for $2.49.

That's a lot  more than I've paid in the past at Aldi, but certainly rules out buying eggs  at Kroger, Publix, or Walmart.

My most recent Eggland eggs are different, thinner shell,  not as tasty, different sizes in the carton etc. I think they fired their hens and are getting the eggs elsewhere. Woman Frustrated Something has changed.

Thanks everyone for taking the time to post. It looks like they have gone up about the same everywhere, give or take some. It looks like Aldi's is the winner for the best price. The only one in my area is an hour away, so not worth going. I have slowed down on using eggs for the time being. I have animals and used to cook eggs for them daily for extra protein. It's no cheaper now to give them eggs than to give more of their food, which is also very hard to find anymore. Times are strange.Woman Frustrated
