Made old fashioned popcorn in my hand crank Whirley Pop Popcorn Popper on the stove.

Added melted butter, garlic powder, and Parmesan cheese.

End results Popcorn Heaven, and indescribably outrageously delicious!

Sounds great!  I've been using the paper bag microwave method and just did Parm cheese.  I'll have to add in the garlic powder.  It sounds delicious.

Hi Laura,

It is delicious, and we also add other spices from time to time, to give it more of a kick.

The cayenne spice really is my husband's favorite with real melted butter, garlic powder, a dash of Parm.

I hope you enjoy your popcorn, and get a real kick from changing the spices from time to time.

Oh @adoreqvc I cannot tell you how sorry I am I gave mine away!  After my mom passed there was a great kitchen purge and now that things have settled down that is one of the things I wished I could have kept . . . we made such great popcorn in there and on the weekends we would occasionally make two batches in one night . . . great memories, thank you adore!

I used to have one of the crank popcorn pans.  I found it hard to wash and it took up a lot of storage space.  I just pop corn on my stove in a regular pan - works great.

Hey mtc,

Don't beat yourself up my friend, sometimes we get overwhelmed with stuff and feel the need to donate and downsize and get rid of items we should have kept.

You have a solution though and that is to to buy another one and Amazon has them, Whirley Pop has it's own web site, and they sell them. Walmart, target and so many other stores also carry them so get another Whirley popper.

Splurge and create more memories mtc.

Life really is too short to deprive ourselves.

In all honesty that Whirley pop popcorn popper with the hand crank really beats the taste of microwave popcorn.

Stove top popcorn is tasty but still cannot produce the big fat large fluffy kernels which the hand crank of the Whirley pop provides.

I hope you get another one my friend, and make even more memories.

Since Laura has not yet replied......Here you go lovestopaint....

Paper Bag Popcorn Method:

  • Step One: Measure 1/4 cup popcorn kernels into a lunchbox-sized paper bag.
  • Step Two: Loosely fold just the very top of the bag over so the kernels don’t spill out.
  • Step Three: Microwave until there are more than 3 seconds between popping sounds. (In my 1000-watt microwave, this took 2 minutes and 10 seconds.)
  • Step Four: Carefully remove bag and enjoy!

Note: If you want flavored popcorn, toss the kernels in 1 tsp oil, scant 1/8 tsp salt, and desired seasonings—such as cinnamon or garlic powder—before popping.
