This is our favorite. I got the recipe when we lived in SA from a friend who was born and raised there!
San Antonio Chili
2 lbs. skinless, boneless chicken breasts
3 (16 oz.) cans Great Northern beans, drained and rinsed
1 medium onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
2 (4 oz.) cans whole green chilies, cut in large pieces
2 tsp. ground cumin
1 tsp. ground oregano
1 1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
1/2 tsp. salt
1 (14 1/2 oz.) can chicken broth
1 c. water
Cut chicken in one-inch pieces and brown if desired (I don't brown.). Put all ingredients in Crock Pot and stir to mix. Cook on low for 10 hours, high for 6 hours.

My favorite chili is a recipe I got here in 2017 from a poster named Mimi. It's a slow cooker recipe.

Brown hamburger and onion. Put everything in the Crockpot and stir. After it cooks for a while, if it is too thick you can add some water to it.
I guarantee you this is the best chili ever!
If you like sweet chili, you can add up to a 1/4 cup ketchup or barbeque sauce. I just squirt some in without measuring. LOL

Above was what Mimi said. Nomalicious.

I must have 30 of the country style gravy mix in my pantry! I am on AD for Heartland Chicken and get pkgs w/ every delivery.
We usually eat our chicken without it.
I never thought to add them to a chowder or soup! I made a pot last night.....
Thanks! Now I will finally be able to use them up!

I'm making a pot of this soup this weekend, but need to pick up a packet of gravy mix before I do. Wish I could borrow one from you for the time being.

I'm really not much of a cook, I do make a Lentil Soup, I got it at a WW meeting and it is zero points.
1 container of chicken broth (32 oz)
1 package of steamed lentils (it's in the produce section)
peeled and sliced carrots (I love carrots so I like a lot)
chopped onion and chopped celery (I don't measure)
1 small can of diced tomatoes (I don't drain it)
Spray a pot with Pam, saute the carrots, celery, and onions. Pour in the broth, tomatoes and lentils. I let it come to a slight boil and then cover the pot, The lentils are already cooked, your just waiting for the carrots to soften, I usually let the soup go about 30 or 35 minutes. Add salt and pepper to taste.

My 18 year old granddaughter has introduced me to the world of TikTok.
Yes.....I know.
Although we watch different things, I have come across many great recipes on this site.
I save the video and then when I want to cook it, I do.
If you are a Keto person, there are many great recipes to watch.
It's like a fast cooking channel.
Love it.

My DHs simple hamburger soup.
Which is also a quick throw-together:
hamburger, onion, potatoes, tomatoes, water.
I come along, though, and make it my way:
Saute the onion separately w/ a pinch of sugar. This prevents any onion aftertaste.
Boil the potato cubes separately. Skim off any starch, and use some of the liquid for the soup.
Potato option: use perogis in place of. (no special treatment here.)
For extra seasoning: add sherry to the pot, sweet basil to the onions, vegetable or meat stock instead of water. Maybe a pinch of apple pie spice or cloves, besides S & P.

I like "normal" chili like Mimi's, but I read a reference to Cincinnati chili in "Mom's Best One-Dish Suppers" and just looked it up. The recipe I'm looking at has the usual ground beef and tomato (sauce/paste), onion, and garlic, but the seasonings include unsweetened chocolate, cinnamon, allspice, cumin, cloves, cayenne, and chili powder. Toppings also vary.
I'm familiar with the depth and interest a small amount of cinnamon can add to an otherwise ordinary beef stew, but this full-on Middle Eastern angle goes far beyond that. Does anyone have experience with this variety of chili?

@Zhills wrote:@noodleann Start a "Chili" thread and see how many variations you get posted. Many exist.
I'm not interested in starting a thread or looking at other variations. I was asking specifically about Cincinnati chili.
