Peppermint Tip

I wanted to pass on this peppermint tip that can make quite a difference in your holiday recipes.

When a recipe calls for cracked peppermint candies, the best choice is the round red and white starlight candies. Apparently candy canes are substantially different (I think they contain more air than the starlight mints do).

The 'mouth experiment', letting the different candies melt on your tongue, help to understand what is going on.The candy canes easily become syrupy while the starlight mints remain more or less solid.
