I made this today. I started out making the green beans separately but decided to add to the pasta dish. They had some almonds and sesame seeds in them but I didn't notice any in any bites that I took! lol

We had a small amount of green beans from the garden to use up so I added them but would have added some chopped zucchini if I had some. We had to use canned tomatoes because we only had a few cherry tomatoes from the garden.

Pasta and Italian Sausage

1 medium onion, chopped

1 tablespoon oil

1 package Italian sausage

1 green pepper, chopped

cherry or grape tomatoes plus

1 can whole tomatoes, chopped or chopped fresh tomatoes

2 cups green beans, blanched (optional)

or add chopped zucchini

2 1/2 -3 cups dry pasta

chopped basil (optional)

shredded parmesan cheese (optional)

Brown onion in oil.Remove casings from sausage and add to onion, breaking into small pieces.Add green pepper and cook until sausage is browned, drain. Add tomatoes and simmer.Blanch fresh green beans, then sauté in butter. Add to sausage mixture.Cook and drain pasta, (reserving some pasta water) and add to sausage mixture.Add chopped basil. Top with shredded parmesan, if desired.
