I think it's soon to be recipe weeding out time again soon. Our tastes have just really changed now. Health-wise, he really is eating somewhat differently. Our taste buds seem to have changed some now too. It's for the good I think too.
So...........................kind of hate to get rid of them, but anytime I clear an area out, the space seems to be very calming. When I chose to be in the kitchen more it was fun, so it was great while it lasted. It's different now.

@qualitygal .... I understand changes in eating habits and lifestyles. We eat differently and entertain differently now. I just went through my recipe collections recently. I got rid of several while smiling at memories of many.

A few years before Mom died, she made a recipe box for all 7 of us kids. Recipes went back generations and many were family favorites. I'm not sure I could sort out any of them. I also have my own recipe box.
I donated all my recipe books. I don't use them and they just took up space.

Over the last few years I have donated many cookbooks that were either given to me or I bought myself. I never used half of them but bought them with good intentions. We do make an array of dishes and repeat many favorites so I no longer spend a lot of time looking for new recipes. Maybe just for soups and stews, but that's about it. I did make a binder with the favorites and I love having most of it in one book, saves a lot of space

I still have my mom's recipe box 🗃️ and will keep it until the day I die. 😘 Every once in awhile I'll go through it and fix something. Of course I don't cook like mom 😘

One way to keep it fun in the kitchen and also works with changing tastes is to use binders.
I print online recipes then put in a sheet protector on both sides and keep in binders.
Still keep the sentimental cookbooks but I find my custom binder recipes are used almost 100% of the time. Easy to add / delete recipes too.

Changing taste and changing health............I used to make cookies and desserts. Now I cringe when a recipe calls for several cups of sugar.
I signed up for a separate email address for all of the food bloggers I follow. It doesn't clog up my main email address and I can save things online.......now I'm finding how many interesting new recipes I rarely make. LOL

I have a TON of recipe books. There is only one book I use, for one recipe. I don't know why I have kept them all, except that hope springs eternal and maybe someday I will actually enjoy cooking and baking.
I do have a box of recipe cards that I use. One card is so worn and faded and stained that I can barely read it. I just made that dish on Sunday. I really should rewite it, but I like having the original one I wrote out.

I very seldom even use my written recipes anymore.
I just snapped a picture with my iPad and store them that way.
When we travel in our RV or we are at our summer place, I have my recipes with me.
I still have the written ones...some are in my mother's handwriting and are sentimental, but I don't need to dig through the recipe box looking for them.
I still have cookbooks that I keep in the family room in my floor to ceiling bookcase. I sometimes just like to browse through them.
It seems when you toss or lose a recipe, then you are sorry later. Either somone wants it or you changed your mind and want to make it again and now you can't find it.
You can always put recipes on a photo disk for safekeeping too.
