Someone gave me this recipe only it doesn't have cool whip in it, and it's delicious.

It would not be the same recipe if it did not contain Cool Whip.  That is what makes it a sherbet.  P.S. You can add slivered almonds or pecans to this for a different take on it.  I have had this recipe for many years and it is one of my family's favorites.

My Mom made a Jello mold similar to this with orange sherbet.   You layered regular Jello with the sherbet mixture.   It was so refreshing.

Great take on that old recipe.

Dumb question.

Do you thaw the frozen orange juice or just put it in frozen?

Hi @Frosted Cake,

My Mom used to make a layered Jello dessert that was similar, except it was made with strawberry Jello and Cool Whip, and it may have had strawberries in it too, I think?

Anyway, I just remember it being really good!

I love these Jello desserts! Smiley Very Happy

yum! this sounds really good and also very refreshing!

and yes, I woudl thaw the OJ, or add it right after dissolving the jelllo in the hot water so it would thaw that way.

Honestly, i findt hat frozen Oj doesnt really freeze that solidly anymore, is it somehting they add to it, or just the high sugar content which keeps it from freezing too hard?

Made it..it's really goodI and it makes a lot..Next time I might cut back on the frozen OJ, cause it seemed kind of bitter.. But maybe it's cause I used an off brand..Also, I would add more mandarins...I just love mandarins!

thanks again!
