I made these today and they are so good. Was looking for something to bake and a new recipe to tried.
Orange Biscuits
1/2 cup orange juice
3/4 cup sugar divided
1/4 cup butter or margarine
2 t grated orange peel
2 cups flour
1/2 t salt
1/4 cup shortening
3/4 cup milk
melted butter or margarine
1/2 t cinnamon
In a saucepan, combine orange juice,1/2 c sugar, butter, and orange peel.Cook and stir over medium heat for 2 minutes. In a 12 muffin pan divide the mixture in the pan. Set aside.
In a large bowl combine flour, baking powder and salt.Cut in the shortening until resembles coarse crumbs. With a fork stir in the milk until it forms a ball.On a lightly floured surface knead the dough 1 minute.Roll into a 9 inch square about 1/2 inch thick.Brush with melted butter.Combine the cinnamom and remaining sugar.Sprinkle over the butter.Roll up and slice into 12 slices.Place slices ontop of the orange mixture in the muffin pan.Bake at 425 degrees for about 12-16 minutes.Cool for 2-3 minutes, remove from pan.The filling may run over so place tin foil under.
