I have noticed when watching various cooking shows on the Food Network many chefs grab a Japanese mayo brand Kewpie:

Has anyone used this brand?  I find it intriguing as I thought nothing would ever move me off Hellman's until Duke's became available in my area so clearly it is easy to turn my head . . .

i will only use hellmans or dukes.......sometimes mrs filberts, which is difficult to find.

I'm from Dukes and Blue Plate heritage.  We used Hellmans growing up and I still like it for some things, but Dukes and Blue Plate rule here!

I use HELLMANS .... i don’t need to use any other brand .

Never tried this brand and Nothing but Kraft Mayo or Dukes for me!!

The kewpie mayo is made with egg yolks instead of whole egg so it maybe richer. It is tangy and sweeter. I have to avoid it for the msg in it. Supposedly they make some in the U S without msg but I don’t know how you tell without reading the label

I don't watch those cooking shows so I am not aware of what they are using.

Hellmann's is what I use but sometimes it can be expensive and I don't always finish a quart jar.  Sometimes it sits so long in the fridge that it looks old so I throw the remaining product away.

In an economy effort I tried Aldi mayo--Buford brand or something similar.  $2 a jar.  It is quite good and I will buy it again.

I like the name "Kewpie".  I'll stick to the Kirkland brand at Costco.

I was curious, so I googled Kewpie Mayo. It is tangier and sweeter, and has a richer flavor because it contains only yolks instead of whole egg. Also it is made with rice vinegar.
