While at the local IGA yesterday I ran across packages of fresh orange slice candy. . .Time to bake a bach of ORANGE SLICE COOKIES, just in time for Christmas!

ORANGE SLICE COOKIES

10 oz pkg of orange slice candy, cut into small pieces (I use a knife!)

2/3 C butter

2/3 C sugar

2/3 C brown sugar

1 egg

1 t vanilla

1 1/4 C flour

1/2 t salt

1/2 t baking powder

1/2 t soda

1 C coconut

1 1/2 C quick oatmeal

Cream butter and sugars together. Mix in egg and vanilla. Sift dry ingredients together and beat into creamed mixture. Fold in oatmeal, coconut and candy. Shape into balls and baked on oiled pan at 350 degrees for 8 minutes.
