@Flatbush     I never tear up with white onions.  Yellow onions are the worse for tears.  Switch to white onions.

@Flatbush Since you posted I've thinly sliced several onions at once and also grated onion with no tearing or eye irration at all.  Thank you so much for posting.

That is my solution too. I very rarely have a problem slicing the cold onions. But if I find that won't work anymore, i will definitely use the napkin/paper towel

I'm always surprised when Vidalias make my eyes burn.  Makes me think they are counterfeit.  Woman Sad

I cut onions when they are cold from fridge.  I read or heard it somewhere. Been doing it for years.  I'm also going to try your tip.  Thanks!

I did try putting a bowl of water near my cutting board when I chopped up onions and -------it worked great!!!
