Need tried & true Taffy Apple Salad recipe please!

I never thought this would be such a challenge - I'm supposed to bring this to a potluck on Saturday and went online to look for recipes and no 2 are the same - some don't even cook the dressing, using RAW eggs!!!

Some have 2 TBLS sugar, some have one cup, some use marshmallows, some use brown sugar, some use 2 apples some use 8 apples, some use 8 oz pineapple & some use 20 oz. Different apples, different kinds of nuts - I'm going nuts, lol!

I've had it and love it, but never made it. It's been years, but I think the one I ate had just apples, no marshmallows and Granny Smith apples, I can't remember what kind of nuts.

I'm going to look through some old cookbooks, but if any of you ladies or guys make this, I sure would appreciate some help here!

(I do want the cooked dressing one, not the Snickers one)
