@Katcat1 You have round steaks don't you?  Just cut them across the grain off of the roast.

Rib steaks and Rib Roast work like that. . .

Round steak was a favorite here.  However, I think much of the demise of round steak came about because people didn't know how to cook it, and it did not sell well enough to substantiate the time it took a butcher to make those specialized cuts.

@RedTop That's what we always used to make Swiss steak and always made it in the electric skillet back when!  I loved it!  A butcher told me (can't remember the details) but they now don't cut them because there is a different way they use primal cuts now, and other cuts sell more.

Boo Hoo I miss them!!!!!

I too made Swiss steak in my Sunbeam electric skillet!  That cut of meat fit perfectly in that square skillet.  We enjoy it made with cube steak now, but it's just not the same.

Re: Need recipe for Round Bottom Roast

@RedTop Put flour, salt and pepper on the steak, brown in oil, top with onion slices and bell pepper slices and a can of diced tomatoes and let it cook!  That was my recipe.

It was so tender and so good!  And yes, it was a perfect fit for the electric skillet!  How funny!

Yes, that's how I made it too, but I also added about 2 heaping Tbsp brown sugar and a splash of vinegar.
