Need Help With Cutting Recipe in Half

I want to make half of Italian Cream Cake recipe. It calls for 5 eggs separated. Can I use 2 eggs separated and a little more buttermilk or 3 eggs separated and little less buttermilk? Or any other suggestions welcomed. Thank you.
