This comes from Paula Deen. My husband says this is the best Banana Pudding he has ever eaten. It is very good.
2 bags Pepperidge Farm *Chessman cookies; 6-7 bananas, sliced; 2 cups milk; 1 (5-oz) box instant French Vanilla pudding (I used Banana Cream pudding); 1 (8-oz) package cream cheese, softened; 1 (14-oz) can sweetened condensed milk; 1 (12-oz) container Cool Whip or equal amount sweetened whipped cream.
Line the bottom of a 13 x 9-inch dish with 1 bag of cookies (keep cookies whole) and layer bananas on top.
In a bowl, combine the milk & pudding mix and blend well using a handheld electric mixer.
Using another bowl, combine the cream cheese & condensed milk together and mix until smooth.
Fold the whipped topping into the cream cheese mixture. Add the cream cheese mixture into the pudding mixture and stir unil well blended.
Pour the mixture over the cookies & bananas and cover with remaining cookies (I crumbled this top layer of cookies up).
Refrigerate until ready to serve.
* If you cannot find Chessman cookies, you can use any buttery shortbread cookies, such as Lorna Doone.
