@house_cat - They make the best! It will be delicious!

This reminds me of something. When my brother died people were dropping all kinds of delicious food at my mom's home. Someone made the most delicious macaroni casserole, but of course Mom had no idea who. I did some detective work and traced it back to one of Mom's closest friend's daughter-in-law. So I went to her father-in-law (we were extremely close to this family) and told him how much I loved the casserole and would he get me her recipe.

He laughed and said she didn't cook much and if she made it, she used the recipe on the box. It turns out he was right!  Smiley Happy

@rockygems123  If I'm ever near a Kroger, I'll definitely try their Chester's chicken for the first time 😊.  Thank you for the tip, Rockygems123!

Re: My secret family recipe... shhh... don't tell!

If the guests are under 45 they probably won't even know.  I was taught to make Mac and Cheese by scratch!  Three of my immediate family members, DH,DS,DD liked blue box stuff, both different types,  which I made for them but refused to eat!

Friends of mine, I am mid 70's, all grew up on homemade Mac and cheese.  One snowy night, I made tuna casserole and invited several neighbors over.  Two people told me they haven't had tuna casserole since their Mom made it!  They loved it and I now make it whenever it snows, which is rare in South Jersey, plus the neighbors are gone.

Embellishing goes a long way.  I am sure it will be enjoyed.

I fully support this! I love to cook and Thanksgiving dinner is a huge deal for me. Traditional food all from recipes handed down in my family. With one exception! I’m making my granddaughters (ages 3 and 5) favorite boxed Mac n cheese. They are going to be trying out lots different foods and I want them to have a familiar staple that they will like! I predict your side will be one of the first to go!! Have a wonderful day!

We have a Chester's Fried Chicken inside a Shell Gas Station down the street from us, their fried chicken is good!

Has anyone tried Jollibee's fried chicken?  They only sell thighs and leg portions but their chicken is good too, crunchy, comes with a side of gravy that you can dip your chicken into.

Re: My secret family recipe... shhh... don't tell!

I love my own mac & cheese, the recipe my mother passed along to me before her passing. Of course, I never met a mac & cheese casserole I didn't like, even get Kraft Dinner every once in a while. Funny story: I had a neighbor kid over for dinner one time, making my mac & cheese. He took one bite and pushed it away saying it wasn't mac & cheese. He ate everything EXCEPT the homemadeWoman LOL so I think you're making a good choice!

I thought of taking the time to make a more elevated version of mac-n-cheese, but I know my granddaughter won't eat it.  Her favorite is the side dish from BoJangles restaurants that we have in this area. It's very similar to Stouffer's.

Btw, I'm only sprinkling the bacon on top so the fussiest of the fussy can avoid it if they prefer... not sure who would object to bacon, aside from vegetarians, but you never know.
