I didn't use a recipe, just cabbage, onions, celery and carrots in chicken broth.  How can I fix this?

@RedTop, I totally agree,  add canned tomatoes.  Have you ever used San Marzano canned tomatoes.  Heavenly.  Costco carries them and I buy by the case.  Never make a stew or soup without these.  LM

I have never seen that brand of canned tomatoes in this area of southern West Virginia.   Besides store brands, we mainly have the choice of Hunts, Del Monte, Red Gold, Furmano, Contadina, and occasionally Cento.

@RedTop, the only place I know that carries it locally is Costco.  Maybe some of the boutique deli’s do.  I never knew a canned tomato could add such flavour.

i just googled and see that you can get them at Amazon of all places.

San Marzano is a type of tomato, not a brand.  Other brands can be san marzano tomatoes, roma tomatoes would be the next best to use.  However, san marzanos are 'sweet' compared to regular tomatoes.  Less acid and smooth.
