My Favorite Key Lime Pie Recipe

From the files of my Sister-in-Law:

Graham Cracker Crust:

1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs

1/4 cup powdered sugar

5 tbsp butter, melted

Mix all ingredients in bowl and press into 9" deep-dish pie pan.

Filling:

2 cans sweetened condensed milk

1/2 cup sour cream

3/4 cups key lime juice (from 20 key limes if using fresh, which is the tastiest)

1 tbsp grated lime zest (if using fresh limes)

Mix all ingredients in bowl and pour into crust.

Bake in 350 degree oven until tiny bubbles burst on surface of pie, 5-8 minutes.

Do you have a favorite to share?

Re: My Favorite Key Lime Pie Recipe

I think somewhere there is a Key lime pie recipe made w/limeade cocncentrate (frozen) and Cool Whip.

If I have to have a graham cracker crust I will buy it reddi-made.

That sounds delicious.   Regular limes are no substitute for key limes, as some people do.

Re: My Favorite Key Lime Pie Recipe

Yes!  This is my favorite key lime pie recipe, and this is a picture I took of it.  I used to be a food blogger hence the photo.

Heavenly Key Lime Pie

1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk

3 egg yolks

2 teaspoons Key lime zest or regular lime zest

1/2 cup Key lime juice*

1 (9-inch) graham cracker crust

Garnishes:  whipped cream, lime zest and/or lime slices

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Whisk together condensed milk and next three ingredients until well blended.  Pour mixture into pie crust.  Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes or until pie is set.  Cool completely on a wire rack (about 1 hour).  Chill at least one hour before topping with whipped cream, lime zest and/or lime slices.  Store in refrigerator.

*I use Nellie & Joe's Famous Key West Lime Juice found in the juice aisle at Wal-Mart by the bottled lemon juice.

@Ainhisg  That does look and sound "heavenly".  I like the whipped cream garnish.

@Ainhisg  That pie is beautiful and the recipe sounds delicious.

That is one pie that I have never made. I may have to

                  try it sometime.

@D Kay

What's the difference between a regular lime and a key lime.  Sincere question.

@Tinkrbl44  Key limes are sweeter and have seeds.

Re: My Favorite Key Lime Pie Recipe

I can always tell the difference when Key Lime Pie is made with key limes vs. regular limes. They sell bottles of key lime juice and bottles of lime juice.
