i rinse them in water and right into the pan with olive oil - also you cannot overcook mushrroms - (I don't mean burning them in high heat) they can hang with onions cooking in olive oil for a long time - they get more carmelized and taste better

I saute baby button mushrooms in lots of butter and when browned use sea salt for seasoning.  Delicious!!
