I'm planning to make this cake for a family get together this weekend. Our family has quite a few retired military and we like to celebrate with a bbq. I'm bringing one of the desserts. Im going to see if I can find a raspberry cake mix or maybe I'll use strawberries and use a strawberry shortcake cake mix.
Will you be celebrating and what are you making?

I guess it's self explanatory but just follow the baking directions and cooking time on your cake.
(the recipe is from The Spruce Eats)
Here are the frosting directions:

If a sugar cookie crust was used, that same look could be used for a fruit pizza.

@simplyfriends i think you mean that youll try to find a strawberry cake mix, not a strawberry shortcake mix. Thats a totally different bisciut-like item.
Sounds like it will be a hit!

I've always been tempted to try that cake when I see the recipe!
Let us know how yours turns out please!
From the ingredients I bet it's a big YUMMY!

I've made a similar looking flag cake like that in the past. This weekend we are havng some family over and I think I will offer a strawberry shortcake...store bought since I'm not in the mood for baking.

We are having a quiet weekend this weekend except for Saturday. My cousin's band is playing on Saturday at an outdoor venue 4-8 PM. Supposed to be beautiful in the northeast this weekend so it will be fun. Just going to stop for a pizza ahead of time.
Whatever you are doing, I hope you enjoy

We never celebrate Memorial Day because it is remembering those who died protecting our country. Most likely it is a sad day for those who lost their loved ones.

@Foxxee I liked that the OP called it a gathering. I think "Memorial Day Celebration" misses the whole point. However, we do cook out and ask people over.

The OP did indeed use the word "celebration."
"Will you be celebrating and what are you making?"
This is my comment.
"We never celebrate Memorial Day because it is remembering those who died protecting our country. Most likely it is a sad day for those who lost their loved ones."
The OP asked if we will be celebrating? I told her "no" and why.
