The fast food is so expensive now I've learned that at Wendy's  I can order a drive through Jr hamburger, free kids frosty ( with a yearly $2. Key tag) and courtesy water I add squirt lemonade. $1.99 includes tax.
Then I drive to the beach and enjoy the free view. Oops, now they charge $15. to stop on the Parkway!

When I was 16 and worked there the quarter pounder was my favorite, it was huge back then!  Now my favorite is the double cheeseburger I also like the big mac...maybe once a year.  When I still worked the guy that sat next to me knew I liked the double cheeseburger so whenever he would get me one.

Now my go to naughty fast food is two crunchy tacos from taco bell and a green bean burrito.

QP w/ Cheese, plus fries of course, is my fave.

Wanna try the 'Deluxe' version sometime.

It has lettuce, tomato, & other stuff - hold the mayo, tho.

Somewhat ot,

but all my life I wanted to be a vegetarian but I just didn't see how I could give up hamburgers or chicken salad.

My sister was and is one almost all her life even when little.

I'm the one who loved every animal I ever met and made friends with. I would just have to not think of it.

But finally a few years ago I just thought I can't do this anymore. These are my friends and I couldn't hurt them anymore. That includes dairy esp cheese.

I still sometimes eat fish but my sister gave that up also a few years ago which is pretty amazing.

I want to get there too.

There are many actually great things to eat now that are made for vegans.

Sometimes if my gourmet daughter makes a special fish or something I'll eat it.

Maybe all those McDonald's hamburgers which I loved made it harder.

But now they have impossible burgers which are great.

most vegetarians I know don't like Beyond burgers anymore. Too realistic.

Sorry to go off on a great tangent.

And I don't judge anyone who still eats meat and things either.

But I think more and more people are going that path.

I used to work at McDonald's in college.

We had the best manager and training. It got to be fun to see how fast you could make everything.

Everything was very specific. Everything always made exactly the same with squirters you know that squirted just the right amount of mustard or ketchup. Just the right amount of time to make the fries though I think some pull them out too early if there is a rush.

And they let us take home a huge bag of left over egg McMuffins. Without those, we wouldn't have had anything to eat!

I think McDonald's is a first job for many kids. It was for my daughter at 15 & much later for her daughter also.

I always get a large iced carmel macchiato & a $3.00 Daily Double at McDonald's.

@bestday,

It's a great job to have esp if there is a good manager.

But my first job was at Baskin Robbins! How lucky is that?!

One day a man came in and said "what happened to all the pralines?" lol!

Well, I guess I just got to scooping them out one night. I know so bad.

And another time I went down all 31 flavors and tried them all.

The owners were a sweet couple and let me run the store after awhile. Hardly anyone came in the wintertime so after I made the cakes and all you had to do I would swing on the counters and sing really loud.

But in summertime you felt like your arm was falling off.

My mother always wondered why I wasn't hungry when I got home.

I'd already eaten a hot fudge sundae and a milkshake lol!

Really good memories!

Totally, @on the bay .  Good for you, that you are being kinder to yourself and the planet.

I know there are others here who have taken that road, and I respect that, for sure.

I remember going out for a pizza with a work friend, when I was about 19 (long time ago).  He was a vegetarian but I naively ordered "my half" with sausage.  He was so disgusted that even a crumb of that sausage landed on his side!  He picked it over quite carefully to remove any "bits".

I made quiche for a neighbor who was a vegetarian.  Put mushrooms in it.  Turns out she thought mushrooms were like eating "slugs from the sidewalk".  Oops!  I sould have asked her before I made it.

Today I will return to my more healthful ways, but I sure did enjoy that McDonald's meal.

@on the bay   Thank you for sharing your story.  Like you, I respect everyone knowing each of us has our own journey. For me, it is all about the animals also, that awareness happened as a child.  But, as I matured I realized an added benefit was radiant health and ecological concerns.  It is a beautiful way to live.
