Mary's Pickles-for Lavender and anyone else who likes spicy

Lavender-I have no idea what the name of these pickles really are, but my friends' SIL is named "Mary" and we have just always called them her pickles! The recipe uses a gallon container of pickles so if you make them you may want to gift some to those you know who enjoy spicy. We love them on sandwiches, especially Italian Beef, but are great with anything you want to add a little sweet "kick" to!

Mary's Pickles

1 gallon sliced dill pickles, drained
1- 5 pound bag of white granulated sugar
1 bulb garlic, peeled, then chopped and crushed
1 -12 ounce bottle of Tabasco sauce

Use one whole bulb of garlic, not a single clove. Drain Pickles and place in large mixing bowl. Add sugar, Tabasco (whole bottle) and garlic. Let stand approximately two hours or until sugar is completely dissolved. Spoon into jars and refrigerate.
Note: I usually let them stand overnight to allow sugar to dissolve and flavors to develope.
