@jubilant  Thanks for the recipe.  I can't wait to make it.  I might even try putting some bourbon in the sauce since my relatives like a good alcohol desert!!

@jubilant

Just tagging on at the end here to let you know that I have a similar recipe, "Apple Hill Cake," which is made in a 9x13 pan and when cooled to room temp and cut in half, wrapped in plastic wrap and foil, freezes extremely well.

Happy Easter!

@sfnative

Thank you....that is good to know.  I like the idea of cutting it in half. A Happy Easter to you, too !!!!!!

Re: Making Apple Cake Ahead And Freezing

Dear IG,

I make a delicious fresh apple cake from a recipe on SOUTHERN PLATE.  Have made it many times.  Will last in fridge until it’s gone.

Here are the additions I made:

1 Tablespoon Pumpkin Pie Spice (mixed into dry ingredients)

2 (instead of one) cups chopped walnuts

and

1 teaspoon Pumpkin Pie Spice added to sauce before cooking

Hope you give it a try.  You won’t be disappointed!
