i have never heard of ranch style beans either.
i will check in the international aisle in the grocery store.
i like the idea of using kernels of corn rather than creamed corn.
i may just substitute one of the BUSHs baked beans.....maybe the bold and spicy.

@novamc1 Bush's makes a kidney or pinto bean in a chili sauce.

Oh my @sunshine45 you really are going to have to come to Texas. I grew up on Ranch Style Beans. There are more of those on our store shelves than even the Bush brand. But Bush does give you different flavor opitons while Ranch is just a hearty red/pinto spicy bean.

I am pretty sure WM would carry the Ranch Style beans...they have a great unique flavor. Made in FT Worth, TX.

As a college student, DD made an even quicker version....
2 cans Hormel no-beans canned chili
1 can ranch style beans, undrained
1/2 cup grated Mexican cheese blend, or to taste
1/3 cup chopped or grated onion
I box Jiffy cornbread mix or I envelope Corn Kits mix
a. spread chili in bottom of oblong baking dish
b. put beans on top of chili
c.sprinkle cheese and onions on top of beans
d.mix cornbread batter as per package directions, pour over cheese and onion mixture.
e. Bake at 400 or until cornbread is brown and mixture is hot.

@novamc1 You obviously are not in the Southwest where every single grocery store sells these beans. They're kidney beans with cumin and a little chili powder. Just use beans and add Mexican seasonings.
I have seen these in convenience stores and CVS. I think it is an emergency supply in Oklahoma.

@sunshine45 Just put in some pinto or red kidney beans and throw in a little chili powder to taste and you'll be fine!

@Sooner. They are a staple in Texas and New Mexico. I'm surprised they haven't caught on in Oklahoma 'cause it's almost like Texas.

@Kachina624 I'm sorry you misunderstood me. They are EVERYWHERE. Matter of fact a local store we were in last week had a huge section of them. We even laughed about it.
As old as I am, no specifics on this statistic, I don't ever remember them not being in stores. They are VERY common in Arkansas and Oklahoma and have been for a VERY long time. VERY
