NANA'S "NANNER" PUDDING

Ingredients:
  • 3 (3.4-oz) packages vanilla instant pudding
  • 4-3/4 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 (8-oz) carton sour cream
  • 1 (8-oz) container whipped topping, divided
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts, divided
  • 1 (12-oz) box vanilla wafer cookies
  • 9 or 10 bananas, sliced
  • Juice from 1/2 a lemon
Preparation:
  1. Mix the pudding and milk according to the package directions and then add the vanilla.
  2. Fold in the sour cream, 4 oz of whipped topping, and 1/4 cup of chopped walnuts. Refrigerate until the pudding is set or is needed. (You can prepare the pudding up to two days ahead of time.)
  3. Combine the lemon juice with the banana slices in a medium-size bowl; set aside.
  4. In large bowl or casserole dish, alternate layers of wafers, bananas, and pudding mix, ending with the pudding.
  5. Dollop the remaining whipped topping on top followed by 6 or 7 crushed wafers and the remaining chopped walnuts. Refrigerate until set.

I have never put sour cream in a banana pudding myself, that just does not sound right to me here in Texas.  Nor have I ever made banana pudding from a Jello mix.  Over the stove stirring the custard is my way with all the egg yolks ect....  Just a much richer and creamier taste and so worth the time and trouble.  Triple batch is the largest I ever done at one time.  But David's Mom other receipes do look yummy so you never know.

Re: Looking for David;s Mom no bake banana pudding Recipe

agreed.  I just get 2 boxes of banana cream jello pudding mix, add all that milk, if using wafers I get the cook and serve jello, if graham cracker crust I get the cold mix , slice bananas in the graham cracker crust, add layer of pudding, maybe another layer of bananas , then, either mix up meringue and broil for a few seconds.

If using wafers, I add layer of bananas, cooled pudding layer, another layer of bananas, more pudding and cool whip topping ir in our case he doesn't like cool whip or meringue I leave it naked and add either cool whip or Reddi

whip to my own dessert.. Refrigerate, of course. Good for summer.

My recipe for Banana Pudding:

8 oz cream cheese, room temperature

14-oz can sweetened condensed milk

5-oz package vanilla instant pudding mix

3 cups cold milk

1 tsp vanilla

8 oz thawed Cool Whip

4 sliced bananas

12 oz vanilla wafers

Beat cream cheese in large bowl until fluffy.  Beat in condensed milk, cold milk, pudding mix, and vanilla until smooth.  Fold in 4 oz Cool Whip.

Line bottom of 9"X13" glass dish with wafers.  Place banana slices evenly over wafers.  Spread with pudding mixture.  Top with rest of Cool Whip and refrigerate.

Looking for David's Moms no bake banana pudding. I do not know where it would be.

When I lose the TV controller, it's always in some remote destination.

At the bottom of the list of categories, you'll fiind DESSERTS, scroll down through Cookies, Cakes, Pies-Tarts-&-Turnovers, then Puddings & Ice Cream -- that's where you'll find Nana's "Nanner" Pudding (which someone posted above in this thread).

David has lots of good recipes posted there.
