I never baked a banana pudding in my life. Sour cream ! Yikes, husband
would throw me out and I'd go willingly. We can't go that stuff.

I have never put sour cream in a banana pudding myself, that just does not sound right to me here in Texas. Nor have I ever made banana pudding from a Jello mix. Over the stove stirring the custard is my way with all the egg yolks ect.... Just a much richer and creamier taste and so worth the time and trouble. Triple batch is the largest I ever done at one time. But David's Mom other receipes do look yummy so you never know.

agreed. I just get 2 boxes of banana cream jello pudding mix, add all that milk, if using wafers I get the cook and serve jello, if graham cracker crust I get the cold mix , slice bananas in the graham cracker crust, add layer of pudding, maybe another layer of bananas , then, either mix up meringue and broil for a few seconds.
If using wafers, I add layer of bananas, cooled pudding layer, another layer of bananas, more pudding and cool whip topping ir in our case he doesn't like cool whip or meringue I leave it naked and add either cool whip or Reddi
whip to my own dessert.. Refrigerate, of course. Good for summer.

My recipe for Banana Pudding:
8 oz cream cheese, room temperature
14-oz can sweetened condensed milk
5-oz package vanilla instant pudding mix
3 cups cold milk
1 tsp vanilla
8 oz thawed Cool Whip
4 sliced bananas
12 oz vanilla wafers
Beat cream cheese in large bowl until fluffy. Beat in condensed milk, cold milk, pudding mix, and vanilla until smooth. Fold in 4 oz Cool Whip.
Line bottom of 9"X13" glass dish with wafers. Place banana slices evenly over wafers. Spread with pudding mixture. Top with rest of Cool Whip and refrigerate.
