Liver and Onion recipe please!

I have been married for 26 years and have never made one of my hubby's favorites {#emotions_dlg.blink}

My mother made this meal and I HATED it. The only think I ate was the "gravy" over some mashed potatoes. My husband (boyfriend at the time) loved it! I've seen different recipes for this but am unsure what the outcome will be and since I cannot taste it, I won't know how it turns out.

All I know is that she floured the liver and fried it then sliced onions and put over it. But I don't know how she finished it! I think she poured water on it and cooked but don't know whether to cover with lid and how long to cook.
