Re: Let's Get Ready for Football . . . . Dip Recipes!

We must be the only house in the US that doesn't eat during the football game.  Must be something wrong with us.

If it's an 11 a.m. kickoff, we have a big breakfast and go out after the game.  We don't ever have snacks or things during a game.  So tell me.  Are we the ONLY ones?  I sorta get that feeling!  Woman Frustrated

We snack but it's usually cheese & crackers or something equally simple.

Cheese and crackers sounds good to me, especially when I am watching the cheesehead team.

Buffalo Chicken Dip

3 packages softened cream cheese

5-7 cooked buffalo chicken strips (or cooked grilled chicken if you want lighter)

ranch dressing (i don't measure making this but i do a couple squirts)

hot sauce (to taste)

pepperjack cheese

Blend cream cheese, ranch dressing and hot sauce, add chicken and stir together. Bake at 350 for 25 minutes, take out and top with pepperjack cheese for 5 minutes (or until melted)

Our games start at 1pm or 4:30. By 1pm we are hungry. Sometimes snack at home or go to the sports bar, so I can see my team which isn't a local one.

A family staple; Hearty Broccoli Dip

1 lb ground beef

1 1/2 lbs Velvetta cheese, cubed

1 can (10.75 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup

1 (10 oz) pkg frozen chopped broccoli, thawed

2 tablespoons medium salsa

Tortilla chips

In a large skillet, cook ground beef over medium heat until no longer pink, drain.  Transfer to a 3-4 qt slow cooker.  Add cheese, soup, broccoli & salsa; mix well.  Cover & cook on low 2-3 hours or until heated through, stirring after 1 hour.  Serve with scoops or tortilla chips.

This is also an excellent topper on baked potatos if there are any left overs.

The snacks are the best part about watching football!  LOL

An easy dip -

spread 1 to 2 bricks of cream cheese in glass pie dish

top with a can of chili beans

finish with a layer of cheddar cheese

Microwave about 5-7 minutes until cheese melts and everything is gooey.  Serve with tortilla chips.
