Which side of the shredding blade on the food processor would be best for coleslaw.  It says fine and medium.   Had a large head of cabbage today and it made a mess doing it with a knife.  Figured I'd try the food processor.

Re: KitchenAid food processor

I no longer have mine so I cannot say but made cole slaw several times using it. I think it would depend on the texture and consistency of the cabbage which side you are using.  I wish I could recall but my mind is going with all the products I rid myself of.

I can no longer lift all those heavy kitchen products.  Got rid of it, the instant pot, the large mixer, large crock pots, the Ninja blender thingie and the LeCreuset. I no longer need all those things. It's just the two of us and all they did was take up cabinet space. Got rid of the air fryer too.  I keep our cooking simple and recall my mother did lots of great cooking without the assistance of all these items.

Why not try half or a quarter head of cabbage each way to see what you prefer....

Depends on how you like your cabbage for slaw.  Thin or wider pieces.  Try both to see which you like.

Re: KitchenAid food processor

Start with just a few pulses on the fine side of the shredding disc to see if that is the consistency you prefer. If not, pulse with the medium. If you do not pulse, there is a good chance, it will quickly over process because it is that powerful.😊

@kismet- It would depend on how you like your coleslaw.  The fine blade comes out like KFC coleslaw.  The medium blade is not much different.  I like to use the slicing blade as I like mine with more texture.  Experiment to see what you like.

Re: KitchenAid food processor

I'll try using it next time I get cabbage.  I usually do cut it very thin and it's fine but last time I tried a mandolin and it doesn't work good on cabbage.  I think cutting it was easier and less mess.  I'll try the slicing also.  Haven't used the food processor a lot.  My mom use to grate it and can't imagine doing that.

Re: KitchenAid food processor

I would think the side with the larger side would be good for Cole slaw.I just shredded large zucchini to freeze for baking and I used large hole side of shredding disk it came out really good.
