Re: Just Ordered Marian Getz Rice Cooker Cookbook

I received my cookbook recently, and Marion really gives many wonderful recipes in this book for different size rice cookers.

I have used many of them in my Instant Pot which also makes rice and is a multi cooker appliance, and the ones I made so far came out really delicious.

I highly recommend Marion's rice cooker cook book, well worth the $.

@Shopster3 I really want to order a few more for gifts.  Awesome cookbook!  If only Marian would consider writing a larger, updated edition.... One can dream!  :-)

YouTube videos are another super resource for ideas.

@Shopster3 Enjoy the cookbook. Every recipe I tried from it turned out good.

@Shopster3

Please tell me how you cook oatmeal in your WG Mini Rice cooker.

I have tried to make it a few times and it bubbled up and made a BIG MESS!

I even tried it in the larger  PC rice cooker and again it bubbled up and made a mess.

I am using Quaker old fashioned oats.   Thanks in advance.

Re: Just Ordered Marian Getz Rice Cooker Cookbook

First off I use the 5 cup Cook's Essential Perfect Cooker.

Second I make Steel Cut Oats. Maybe the Old Fashioned Oats froth more?

I don't happen to like anything but the Steel Cut. I had stopped eating oatmeal until I tried the Steel Cut. They have a consistency more like Cream of Wheat.

I can make a double batch of my recipe, but I usually just do small batches at a time.

Here's my small batch recipe.

1/8 Cup Steel Cut Oats

1/2 Cup Water (you can use milk, but I'm watching my calories)

Teaspoon Vanilla

Dash of Salt (to your taste, not much)

Teaspoon of Sugar/Cinnamon (or to your taste)

Tablespoon Brown Sugar

This small recipe takes about 20 minutes. When done I add slices of banana and any of the other ingredients to my taste.

It's just my own concoction, so this is a basic jump off point and you can tweak according to your taste.

Hope this helps!

Oh I forgot to tell you you will want to stir it about half  way through.

Re: Just Ordered Marian Getz Rice Cooker Cookbook

I have been very happy with Marion's RIce Cooker Cookbook, and every recipe I tried turned out great.

It was very thoughtful that she also lists various size rice cookers and recipes for them, and the 5 cup recipes also work quite well with the HSN Ming Tsang multi cooker.
