My cake recipe calls for 2 T. instant espresso. Could instant coffee be used?

Also when it calls for a 3.9 ounce package chocolate pudding mix to be added to the cake mix, do you think it means instant pudding our the kind you cook? Usually recipes specify the type of pudding. This recipe in my Ninja cookbook does not.

@AuntG- Just as expresso is stronger than coffee.  Instant expresso is stronger than instant coffee.  Instant coffee might chance the flavor profile of the cake.

Most cake recipes call for instant pudding.  I think your recipe probably calls for instant.

I've done that for cakes and frostings and it turned out great.

@AuntG   I've used both instant coffee and espresso but the espresso makes the chocolate cake very rich and decadent. Lots of people asked me what's different. I'm sure your cake will be delicious.

I've never substituted one for the other, but I bet it will taste OK.  I use a jar of King Arthur brand.

Instant coffee will work just fine the espresso will just add for a deeper chocolate flavor....

I've had a difficult time finding it ...   my brownie recipe calls for it ...  even Amazon just uses espresso coffee ...

The Spice House carries Espresso Powder.

I use it in most chocolate recipes.

It is pricey everywhere but worth it to my baking.

Flatpacks ship for free, no minimum.

@RespectLife  dumb question, but do you mix it with liquid prior to putting it in your recipe?
