Is Anyone Doing Anything For Oktoberfest ?

We're going low key this year.  Just having German sausage, spaetzle, sauerkraut and a traditional (or so I am told) cucumber salad.  I got a nice set of marzipan (Cost Plus World Market) for a small dessert treat.

Is anyone else out there making a German meal?

Re: Is Anyone Doing Anything For Oktoberfest ?

We have several German Restaurants. So I am more than happy to go there. I have never made spaetzle (I am sure it is easy). But I like their sauerkraut and especially their German potato salad. I can't wait.

Enjoy your dinner - it sounds delicious

I neglected to mention I make sauerkraut with spare ribs or polska

kielbasa every now and then which I enjoy, kinda close to Oktoberfest foods...🍺

We also go to a restaurant instead.  I can't compete.

Hello @drizzellla

Spaetzel is described as small dumplings, although they are like little fingers, not round.  I'm guessing they're like a pasta in that you put them in hot water and boil them for 17 minutes, then they're ready to go.  I think you just put a little butter on them.  As you can tell, I haven't made them before Smiley Happy

How fun to be able to go to a German restaurant!  You inspired me, I didn't think of that.  I looked on Yelp and found one I'd like to try.

Have a wonderful time!

FYI:

I just checked and apparently the way to usually serve spaetzle is after it's boiled it's sauteed in a skillet with butter, sometimes adding cheese and parsley.
