Hi,

When cooking for one, is it worth it to get an insta pot?  What are your favorite brands?

And, I just got a new gas grill and wondering if anyone has any good grill recipes lately?

Thanks!

I live alone and have 2,  6 qt pressure cookers, including an Instant Pot.  I've been cooking a long time but don't especially like it so I've always made enough to freeze for later meals.  Pressure cooking is fast and easy with minimal mess and tasty results.

Yes, the Instant Pot is worth it. I have had a stove top pressure cooker which I still use, but I like that I can make soups and stews in the Instant Pot. While folks use it for yogurt and other things, I haven't.

Congratulations on your new grill. I would recommend the Cooks Illustated Guide to Grilling and Barbecue a great reference for recipes and techniques. I got mine used on Amazon for less than $20.

@lilmissy  My favorite grilling recipe is Ina Garten's Grilled Herb Shrimp. This is how I wrote it down, so I'm not sure if it is exactly like Ina's. The amounts can be adjusted for less people, I like to use wild caught Gulf shrimp. Also, instead of wood skewers, I use the two-pronged metal skewer's similar to those offered in the past by Meredith.

Grilled Herb Shrimp
Ingredients:
2 pounds large shrimp (16-20 per pound, or count)
1 medium yellow onion, small-diced
3 cloves garlic – minced or put through a press
¼ cup minced fresh parsley
¼ cup minced fresh basil
1 teaspoon dry mustard
2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
2 teaspoons kosher salt
½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
¼ cup good olive oil
1 lemon, juiced
Directions:
Combine all the ingredients and allow them to marinate for 1 hour at room temperature or cover and refrigerate up to 1 day. Really, 1 or 2 hours is fine.
Soak your wood skewers in water for at least one half hour just prior to grilling.
Skewer the shrimp. I use 3 to 4 shrimp on a 12-inch skewer for dinner. I like to pick off the pieces of garlic before grilling, because the garlic gets bitter when it is burned. Heat a grill with coals and brush the grill with oil (if desired) to prevent the shrimp from sticking. Grill the shrimp for only 1 and ½ minutes on each side
