It would really make the mashed nice and creamy, so would a potato ricer:
I don't have either and have done fine.
Surprisingly they are 2 gizmos I have never had!
Only make pots on Holidays and Special events, so I just stick w/ my masher.

@Chi-town girl I just put together all ingedients and tasted it. Wow! Delicious. One suggestion - cut salt in prepared potatoes down to 3 teaspoons. Can always add more if you think you need it.

For me I'd take a very very cooked baked potato, throw a bunch of goat cheese on it, some chives and salt and I'd be happy happy! I don't like mashed potates.
