If you make your own trail mix....

.... what do you put into it?

I love a good handful of trail mix in the afternoon when I'm feeling a little draggy...... but I've never liked any of the commercially prepared ones. They always seem to have something I don't like. I mixed up a huge batch today - cost about $30, but it will last a while.  I use:

unsalted roasted cashews

unsalted roasted almonds

unsalted mixed nuts

raisins

dried cranberries

dried bananas

and this time I added a few honeyed pecans.

@house_cat  Ido not make my own trail mix but I would be glad to sample yours to make sure it is good.  It looks absolutely delicious!

@house_cat  I second what @Boomernichols  said.  Looks delicious and I'm partial to trailmix over other snacks.

I seldom purchase it because I don't care for raisins.  I also have a hard time stopping at one handful when it involves nuts!

Yours looks healthier and better than mine, but I keep it simple with just pretzels, honey roasted peanuts, and m & ms. You are making me hungry!

@house_cat  I also add unsalted sesame seeds and pumpkin seeds to mine. (But I don't include the bananas!)

@DiAnne

I don't like raisins either, but I DO like golden raisins.  I don't even like white chocolate, but this Aldi mix is super tasty.  I sometimes add their GF pretzel rods to the mix.

Making your own trail mix is obviously much better than the 'stale' trail mix you can buy. I love dried apricots, coconut, & macadamia nuts & prefer my nuts roasted.  Forget the cranberries. Not a fan.
