I have always liked iced coffee, and for years drank the lattes at Starbuck'e and Peet's. For me this tastes so much better. I think if you like Hagen Daz coffee ice cream, you might like this drink; I like it because for me it's a substitute for the high fat and calorie ice cream, but you still get that same satisfaction from the flavor of the ice cream.
Iced Coffee
1 shot espresso
14-16-oz milk
2% milk
5-6 ice cubes
2 individual packets of Splenda or 2 T sugar
In a large glass, pour milk over ice cubes, leaving room at the top for the one shot (1 oz) of espresso. Add the espresso and Splenda/sugar, and stir well.
This sounds too simple to be good, but it is delicious and really great this month of
September in SoCal where we're having our triple digit heat probably already experiencing some Fall weather).
My husband makes his own espresso so this is no big deal for us. I'm told that some people buy espresso shots to use at home from their local coffee shops, so that might be an option if the recipe sounds good to you, but you don't make espresso at home.
