The crust, ice cream, syrup flavors can be any combination you like.
Use blender to chop at least 2 cups of crushed cookies (Oreos this time)
Melt a stick of butter and mix with crumbs in 13x9 pan. Press down.
Cut slices from block of ice cream and lay on crust (used choc chip).
Drizzle ice cream topping over ice cream (Hershey's chocolate).
Frost with 8 oz Cool Whip
Crumble a few more cookies to sprinkle on top.
Freeze. I take it out for a few minutes to soften before cutting and serving.
I make this year round using seasonal flavors. At Girl Scout cookie time, I crush their cookies for the crust. DH loves the fact that it feeds his ice cream habit, but portions can be cut as small or big as he wants. I have a 2x2 inch square which is just enough for me.

Auntg.....thanks for posting this recipe. It really sounds good. I just posted another ice cream recipe under the May Recipe Game thread you might like. I will sure be trying yours as well this summer.

@AuntG I've made something very similar to this for my grandchildren. The biggest difference is that I skipped the cookie crust and layered ice cream sandwiches (2 layers) instead.

Thank you for sharing! I love ice cream desserts!
So nice to see you!!
I make the same with ice cream sandwiches....except between the 2 layers I add:
Hot fudge
Caramel or butterscotch
Any yummy treats I have...crushed oreos, candy bars (not M&M, oddly they get very soft), nuts, sprinkles...anything!
I top the 2nd ice cream sandwich layer w/ Cool Whip (lasts longer than real Whipped Cream)
Everyone thinks I made it from scratch!

@RespectLife Thank you for the kind words.
Yes, that's how I made the ice cream 'cake' for the little ones.

@Auntg - One of my family's favorite summer icebox desserts is similar to yours, but we do it on a really simple level using just the crushed cookies mixed with butter, topped with softened ice cream, frozen, and then served with homemade caramel or fudge sauce. So good! And to switch things up, we'll sometimes make the dessert in a shaped cake pan so we get tasty stars and flowers and such...
