Re: ISO ~ Deviled Eggs Recipe

[ Edited ]

We use an egg cooker.  This recipe is for 6 eggs.

If you don't have an egg cooker you can use the cold water method to cook your eggs. Place eggs in saucepan with enough cold water to come at least 1" above the eggs. Heat to boiling. Remove from heat & cover. Let stand 22-24 mins. Run cold water over eggs to stop cooking. Peel eggs under running cold water seems to make it easier. The egg cooker leaves them easy to peel.

3 T Miracle whip

1 T mustard

1/8 t salt

pepper

several drops hot sauce or Tiger sauce

mix with egg yolks sprinkle with Penzey's smoked paprika.

You can use mayo if you don't like miracle whip which I hate but DH will not eat mayo. He also likes the Tiger Sauce better. LOL!!!

Re: ISO ~ Deviled Eggs Recipe

This is my go-to recipe for yummy deviled eggs. DH says they are better than the ones he makes.

@Sooner

As you suggested I went to Amazon to look at their deviled egg plates.  There is a lot to choose from but I thought this one was really beautiful. I don't think I'll get one now, probably won't make deviled eggs for a while.

Re: ISO ~ Deviled Eggs Recipe

I make deviled eggs almost every time I'm taking food "out";  I never bring any home.  To the yolks I add some mayo, several T yellow mustard and a good splash of white vinegar.    I mash all together with a fork and blend until the filling is smooth.  Using two iced tea spoons, I fill the egg whites with the yolk mixture and sprinkle with ground paprika.  I have several plastic covered containers for deviled eggs, so I can make them several hours ahead, cover and allow to chill in the frig.  (Years ago the Q had Rachel Ray's "party in a box" which holds 18 deviled eggs; perfect!)

Re: ISO ~ Deviled Eggs Recipe

SydneyH, I think a little albacore mixed in with the egg yolks would make it so very delious. Also I mix a little horse radish in with just yolks , along with miracle whip , a little salt and pepper to taste then sprinkle the tops with a little paprika. And I always make1 or 2 extra eggs so there is a lot of stuffing in the eggs, So that is two very delicious recipes of mine. Enjoy!!

SydneyH. I forgot to tell you I own a egg cooker purchased from The Q. I also saw them in the grocery store. They make the best hard boiled Eggs I have ever made. Very fool proof.

@Another new name Sue

That plate you showed is pretty , but if you want something bigger to serve eggs at a party..........  Check out ebay where you can find lots of egg plates.   Too many to choose from!

I have two vintage glass ones that I've had for years and just used them to serve deviled eggs at a party two weeks ago.

Wouldn't part with them for anything, mainly because deviled eggs are such a favorite with many people, and I make them frequently.

Re: ISO ~ Deviled Eggs Recipe

I make mine with regular mustard, mayo, salt and pepper. Instead of chopped onion, I cut an onion in half and scrape in fresh onion juice.  Also use sweet pickle relish juice and not the relish itself. I add a little bit of paprika on top for color.
