I had never heard of these meatballs until I saw the recipe on line...from the recipe ingredient list, this seems to be a meatball you eat as a side dish with noodles, etc., not an appetizer, am I correct?

@Mom2Dogs  yes, this is usually a main course served with potatoes or noodles. But you could make the meatballs smaller in size for an appetizer - keeping them warm  in the sauce in a crockpot

Chicago's Daily Herald newspaper has article about this with recipe in Food Section today.....www.dailyherald.com, section 4, page 3.  I need to try this one.

I am probably the only one that does not like Ikea's meatballs.  I have had Swedish meatballs other places that have nutmeg and something else in the sauce served over noodles.

You can always add a dash! We don't like allspice or nutmeg in meat or savory recipes. e leave it out. I know many people like it!

Re: IKEA releases famous meatballs recipe so we can all make them during lockdown

I made this for dinner today. Very good!  I followed the same recipe that was in my local Chicago newspaper similar to one here....both titled IKEA.  The only difference was paper recipe said.....1 1/4 cups beef broth (no veg broth) and 3/4 cup heavy cream.  Both my husband and I liked it.  I served over noodles.  The only thing I would do different next time might be double the sauce.  It makes a lot of meatballs and I would prefer extra sauce.

I am so tempted to make this recipe. But I hate to buy a pint of heavy cream and then throw much of it away. And I know at least one person in the household will not eat it.

And the other person in the household will not eat leftovers.

Oh goodness I do appreciate them sharing their recipes with us but I also have the same feeling of angst in terms of trying their meatballs as I do when trying to put together their furniture as for me it doesn't always go so well.

I never understood the fascination of IKEA's meatballs. I've had them and just never liked them. Probably because I just can't stomach cream sauce. So very unhealthy! Woman Frustrated

Making a double batch of these meatballs this weekend and chicken soup. Good and hearty winter meals 😋
