Re: I need a pumpkin dump cake recipe please!

I just googled punpkin dump cake and a number of different recips came up - really good ones from what I read too.  Google and see what you can find.  Maybe you tweek your's and add in some new tasty ingredients.

This is a great idea to make.  My husband & I are in a euchre card club with 3 other couples of some great friends.  We each bring something, the hosting couple makes the main course and usually one or two other goodies too.  Great fun with great friends playing cards and eating great food!

I have had a lot of fun "saving" seasonal recipes from Pillsbury and Betty Crocker websites.  I'm not sure if they have an exact fit for what you are looking for, but if you sign up, they both send a lot of great recipes electronically.

This recipe was posted in 2011. Is this what you are looking for?

Pumpkin Dump Cake

Someone posted this recipe last year and it was so good I wanted to post it again.

1 29 oz. can pure pumpkin (not pumpkin pie mix)

3 eggs

1 12 oz. can evaporated milk

1 cup sugar

1 tsp. salt

3 tsp. cinnamon

**************************

1 box yellow cake mix

1 cup chopped pecans

3/4 cup melted butter or margarine

Mix pumpkin, eggs, milk, sugar, salt, and cinnamon together until well blended. Pour into a greased 9 x 13 baking dish. Sprinkle the dry cake mix over the top evenly. Sprinkle the pecans evenly on top and pour the melted butter on last.

Bake in a pre-heated 350 degree oven for 50 minutes.

Dumpy Pumpkin Cake

Jill's Note:
  • This easy, yummy dessert is perfect for Thanksgiving Day. My favorite thing about this recipe is that you can really make it your own by adding any ingredient on top…use a candy you have on hand or your favorite fall cookie.

Dumpy Pumpkin Cake
Ingredients:
  • 1 (15-oz) can pumpkin puree
  • 1 (10-oz) can evaporated milk
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
  • 3 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 1 cup coarsely chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup broken graham crackers (not crumbs)
  • 1/2 cup toffee bits
  • 2 sticks butter, melted
  • Whipped cream (optional garnish)
Preparation:
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Spray a 13" x 9" pan with cooking spray.
  2. Combine the pumpkin, evaporated milk, sugar, eggs, and spice. Pour the mixture into the pan. Sprinkle the dry cake mix on top, followed by the nuts, graham crackers, and toffee. Pour the melted butter evenly over all. Bake for 45–50 minutes, or until the center is set and the edges are lightly browned. Serve with a dollop of whipped cream, if desired.

Re: I need a pumpkin dump cake recipe please!

Found another Pumpkin Dump Cake recipe on the forums.

Pumpkin Dump Cake

I love the idea of 'dump' cakes. Quick and easy. However, I'm not thrilled with all the butter and sugars so I played around with a couple of recipes until I found what I believed was a 'lighter' version. I've made both versions and honestly can't tell the difference. I hope that you really enjoy it.

Pumpkin Dump Cake
(recipe adapted from: Tablespoon and Cookies & Cups)

1 15 oz can Pumpkin Puree
1 10 oz can Evaporated Milk
1/2 cup firmly packed Light Brown Sugar
2 eggs
1/2 cup applesauce
1/2 stick of unsalted butter (melted)
1 box Yellow Cake Mix
2 tsp Pumpkin Pie Spice
1 tsp Cinnamon
1/2 cup chopped pecans
1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

Spray a 9x13 baking pan lightly with cooking spray.

Mix together in a large bowl the pumpkin puree, evaporated milk, eggs, sugar, applesauce and spices. Stir to combine. Pour into your prepared pan. Sprinkle the entire box of cake mix on top. DO NOT MIX.

Sprinkle the nuts on the top of the cake layer. Again, please do not mix. Then finally pour the melted butter evenly over the top.

Bake for 45 to 50 minutes.. Or until the center is set and the edges are nicely browned.

Serve with ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.

Re: I need a pumpkin dump cake recipe please!

Where do you find an 18.25 oz. box of cake mx these days.  I have looked and looked to no avail.  I have found that most all of the dump cake recipes no longer work with the smaller cake mix boxes.  I think the smaller ones are 16.25 oz.
