I put a cup of water in my microwave and heat it for a couple of minutes.  I then put my kneaded dough, oiled side up, (in a bowl) in the microwave with the hot water.  Close the door and let the dough proof until double in size.  The warm, moist environment is out of drafts and good for raising.

I didn't have much luck making biscuits using AP flour, so I always used Self-Rising.
