How long have you been cooking? : )

Hi everyone.Smile We have so many new posters (welcome!) I just thought it would be fun to know how long everyone has been cooking. I know that no matter how experienced I get, there is always something new to learn! I've learned a lot from the posters at Recipe Swap.

I had never made grits, a pasty, rhubarb lemonade, cream puff dessert or homemade stock until I "met" friends here, who shared their recipes. There are many more "new to me" recipes but those are a few that come to mind. I love cookbooks and collecting recipes and I also love aprons and wear one pretty much every time I cook. (It seems like something usually splatters on me..lol) I wish I had some of my grandma's aprons. She always wore a dress and apron everyday.

As for myself, other than baking cookies and making candy as a teen, along with a few times when my friends and I decided that we wanted to make supper (that would be pan fried steaks or hamburgers or either pork chops or round steak, in the oven with cream of mushroom soup and Stove Top stuffing) I didn't start cooking until I got married (early 90's). So about 21 years for me. My mom never really taught us how to cook. She cooked and we did the dishes. I still don't like to wash dishes. {#emotions_dlg.blush}

I hope this will be a fun thread and I hope you all can share your stories! Smile

p.s. Do you still enjoy cooking? I enjoy it but some days, no matter how big my recipe collection gets... there are days, when I just don't know what to make for supper! {#emotions_dlg.blush}
