How do you cook rice? I think I might be rice-challenged.

I have always cooked it separately in a saucepan with water, then added it to a recipe. I was watching Pioneer woman today, and she started hers off in a skillet with butter and onions, sauteed it for a while, then added broth and let it simmer. I have never sauteed it first.

How do you cook rice?
