I do three things with taco meat (one lb. ground beef, one envelope seasoning), tacos, soup and nachos. Anyone have a way to combine in a casserole without getting the tortillas soggy?

Don't know if this is what you might want to do or not, but could you bake the casserole and then the last few minutes crush some tortilla chips on top and bake a little while longer? I am a cheese lover, so I would do the crushed chips and more cheese on top of those and bake til the cheese melted

@depglass You could do a layered casserole with flour tortillas. They are supposed to be soft yet they add a lot of flavor and texture.

*Lay down a bed of your preferred cooked rice.
*Layer the prepared taco meat over the top
*Add cheese and bake until hot and the cheese is melted
*Serve and garnish with choices of shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes or pico de gallo, sliced black olives, guac or diced avocado, sour cream, chopped cilantro, lightly crushed tortilla chips

I serve this recipe with shredded lettuce, chopped tomatoes, and salsa:
1 lb ground beef
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 packet taco seasoning
1 can refried beans
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1/2 cup sour cream
Tortilla chips
Brown and drain ground beef and onion. Stir in taco seasoning and refried beans.
Stir soup and sour cream in a bowl. Spread 1/2 in a 9X9" baking dish.
Drop 1/2 of meat mixture on top. Sprinkle 1 1/2 cups shredded cheese over top.
Spread rest of soup mixture over top. Drop rest of meat mixture over top.
Sprinkle rest of cheese on top. Place tortilla chips on top.
Bake at 350 degrees until hot, 20-30 minutes.

This recipe is called Taco Casserole but should be called
Taco-Chili Casserole as it combines ingredients from each. I think you could swap the chili seasoning for taco seasoning. Easy and good.
1 pkg. chili seasoning mix
1 lb. ground beef
1 can diced tomatoes (regular size)
1 can kidney beans
1 cup (or more) broken corn chips or similar chips
1/2-1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
2 cups shredded lettuce
1 fresh tomato, cut up
1/4 cup sliced black olives, optional
Prepare chili seasoning mix according to package directions using ground beef, canned tomatoes and kidney beans; spoon into shallow 2 quart casserole. Sprinkle with corn chips and cheese.
Bake at 350, uncovered, for 15 minutes or until cheese melts and casserole is bubbly hot. Just before serving top with lettuce, fresh tomato pieces and olives (taco toppings as desired).

I cover the bottom of a 9 X 13 casserole with refried beans, then cover with salsa.
Cover with sour cream.
Add 2 lbs drained ground beef with taco seasoning.
Cover with shredded cheddar cheese.
Cover with shredded lettuce and diced fresh tomatoes.
You spoon this over chips.
This one is a good one to take for parties.
