@PA Mom-mom wrote:Now is about the time I think about new recipes for our family gathering at Thanksgiving. Most of the dishes and desserts are set in stone and not negotiable. But every year I try to find a cranberry recipe my family will eat. I've tried sauces, relishes, jams and muffins. Usually my DH and SIL eat the cranberry item. My DH because he eats everything, and my SIL because she's very polite and understands what it's like cooking for 20 some people.
This year I'm going to do Hot Pepper and Cranberry Jelly over room temp. cream cheese with Ritz crackers as one of my appetizers. I've got this jar in my cart on A. Have you every tried it?
@PA Mom-mom So they don't like cranberry? I'd just skip it in favor of something they really like. I like hot pepper jelly on cream cheese, but I'm thinking not with cranberry.

8 ounces softened cream cheese
2 tablespoons maple syrup
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
@deepwaterdotter This sounds like I could eat the whole thing! Do you just mix everything at room temp?
Yes. I cut a slice of bread, spread it with cream chesse, and then put everything away. If I leave it out where I can eat more slices, I will.

@Sooner I know what you are saying, but it's become a mission for me. I just can't stop trying. Sick, I know. Believe me, they are well provided with everything else they like.

@PA Mom-mom I guess everybody has to have a hobby but that's an odd one I must say. Can't even let them eat in peace one year?

Would be delish on a turkey sandwich .
I use the regular hot pepper relish or sweet pepper jelly on roasted pork sandwiches

Sometimes I put cream cheese out to get to room temperature and then make a trough down the center of the cheese and pour the pepper jelly into that with crackers on the side, but last year, I did a charcuterie tray and cut celery, put the cream cheese in the trough of the celery and place it in a circle and put a ramekin in the center filled with the pepper/cranberry jelly with a jelly spoon in the ramekin so that it could be dipped onto the celery but I also had rows of crackers on the several cutting board charcuterie trays. we have about 25 guests so I have to use 3-4 cutting boards for cheeses, meats, crackers, pickles, celery, etc.

I have served this for several years at Christmas, it is good.
The type I use does not have cranberries...it is just Hot Pepper Jelly.

@PA Mom-mom The Stonewall Kitchen products are excellent. I first purchased a couple of them about twenty years ago in a store in Connecticut.
Your plan to pair with cream cheese on Ritz as an appetizer sounds lovely to me.
Have fun with the menu tweaks for the big feast!

Well, here's an update! I found this jelly (Stonewall) at a local grocery store, and brought it home to try. It's nearly gone! I like it, but DH has had some (meaning a lot) every day. He LOVES it! So, we're both in agreement for T-Day.
Thanks everyone!
