Does anyone have a recipe? When I search online, I get recipes to use simmer sauces, not to make them.

Trader Joes, grocery stores and Target sell different jars. I want a basic recipe that I can customize. I use them to make "hot dishes."

Thanks in advance!

I don't think there is a single basic recipe for all different types of dishes. I think water, salt and pepper might be your only transferable items. You've got cream sauces, you've got tomato sauces, you've got garlic sauces. Then there is beef flavor, chicken flavor, on and on.

Google ""Copycat simmer sauces."" I found a Mandarin sauce and a Mojo sauce. Good luck

I really do not understand what the OP is searching for either. There is basic stock or broth or there is white sauce , tomato sauce etc etc etc. She needs to be more specific. For instance if i am making chicken and I want a sauce for over it I am most likely to make a rue and instead of using milk I use chicken broth and it turns into essentially a gravy. Same with beef or you can use milk and it becomes white sauce.

@HH, if you don't understand what I'm asking for, then why respond.

I would make a basic white sauce using

2 Tbsp butter or oil
2 Tbsp all purpose flour

Mix well so that all the flour is 'wet'. Dry flour =lumps!
Slowly add...

1 cup milk

Whisk while it thickens.

Start with water and see if it is the consistency you want. You can add more or use less flour. The mixes I found online are a thickening agent and spices. If you get the consistency you want, you can use that amount of different liquids for flavoring; broths, tomato juice, milk, clam juice, etc. Add your dry spices and simmer away!

Zhills, that's how I make my alfredo sauce (minus the cheese). You just gave me the idea (I love this forum) to use my tomato sauce as a base!

Thank you once again!

Zelda, using those search terms, you end up with recipes using simmer sauces, which isn't what I want.

Zhills had the keyword that I lacked: "copycat."
