Re: Hi! I need a tried and true crab dip. Thanks!

Here is my recipe....it's to die for.

Hot Baked Crab Dip

2 - 8 oz.packages cream cheese

1 med onion..grated fine

1 lb crab meat

1/2 tea worcestershire sauce

1/2 tea prepared yellow mustard

salt to taste.

Beat slowly with a mixer and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

I have made this recipe with a 1/2 lb crabmeat too and it's still very good.

Once backed you can serve it hot or cold.

This is my take on crab..

1 - 8oz cream cheese, softened
1/2 pound fresh cooked crab
sliced green onion
1 T fresh lemon juice

Just mix together. I usually just use a tablespoon of ketchup or cocktail sauce to make it more appealing visually (instead of white).

This is my crowd pleaser:

Hot Crab Dip baked in a Bread Bowl

2 8-ounce packages cream cheese, softened to room temp
½ cup mayonnaise
ÂĽ cup dry white wine
2 green onions, chopped or fresh chives sissor snipped
2 cloves garlic, minced
½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 pound fresh crab meat
ÂĽ cup Sweet Red Bell Pepper (fine mince)
1 2-pound round loaf of bread) Sourdough is delish!
Your favorite hot sauce to taste & a dash of Creole Seasoning or Old Bay
garnish = fresh, flat leaf parsley

In a small bowl, beat the cream cheese until fluffy. Gradually stir in the remaining ingredients except crab & bell peppers. Once mixed, add the crab and bell peppers.

Slice off the top of the bread. Scoop out the center of the loaf to make a basket. Baked @ 350 degrees until bread is crusty & dip is hot (approx. 25 - 35 minutes)

I sometimes use Pickapeppa Sauce for the heat factor!

Crab meat mixed with a bit of mayo is a delicious spread.

I am very proud and honored to say that My recipe was chosen to be published in the "Best of the best QVC family cookbook" from 2005. All the recipes submitted were made by the staff before they narrowed down who would be in the book. Here is my recipe that won! "Crowd Pleasing Crabmeat Appetizer" 2 sticks of butter 2 (8-ounce) packages of cream cheese 2 (7-1/2 ounce) cans crabmeat or can use fresh crabmeat shredded Party rolls in package (small size) Paprika Melt butter and cream cheese together over medium heat. I think party rolls are sold on the bread isle in packages. They look like mini rolls. The package is about the size of a loaf pan.

I bet it would also be good on those party sandwich loaves. They are the mini loaves of wheat or rye bread.

These all sound so delicious. I've never heard of party rolls either. I'll have to look closer in the bread isle.

k, I'll have to look and see if I have that book, I think I bought most of them.
